The Minnesota Timberwolves have the appearance of a team that is relying on continuity for next season, having made no blockbuster moves so far this season.
However, trade partners are hoping to convince the Wolves otherwise.
According to Clutchpoints' national NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Los Angeles Lakers broached a trade with the Timberwolves that Minnesota struck down "immediately."
On July 21, Siegel posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the Lakers discussed Wolves guard Donte DiVincenzo as a potential trade target. Memphis Grizzlies guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was also another Lakers target.
"KCP talks happened after he was included in the Bane-ORL trade. MIN immediately turned down DiVincenzo talks," Siegel added.
While a deal was not struck, DiVincenzo remains a potential midseason target.

Currently in the penultimate year of a four-year, $50 million contract, DiVincenzo is one of the Wolves' best values on their cap sheet. His $11.9 million cap hit for next season ranks 142nd among all players in the league.
Coming off a dazzling postseason rise with the New York Knicks -- which included a career-high 17.8 points per game -- in the 2024 NBA playoffs, DiVincenzo landed at No. 75 on ESPN's Top 100 players list for the 2024-25 season.
DiVincenzo missed 19 games with a toe injury last season but was a capable second perimeter scoring option to Anthony Edwards in the regular season. However, DiVincenzo struggled in the postseason, posting a -62 plus-minus rating.
The Wolves appear undeterred by DiVincenzo's struggles in the postseason, and considering the affordability of his contract. He remains an upside play for the Timberwolves, who let Nickeil Alexander-Walker leave in free agency and have not added any incoming talent at guard yet.
