Tom Thibodeau Offers 2-Word Josh Hart Injury Update
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks are fresh off an exhilarating win over the Chicago Bulls, which happened to be an overtime contest in the Madison Square Garden.

Now, the very next day, the club has to hit the road for a contest against the No. 1-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers.

New York already had to take on the Bulls with a shorthanded squad. Without Josh Hart or OG Anunoby on the hardwood, the team had to rely heavily on Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 32 points and pulled down 18 rebounds.

Miles McBride had a strong impact alongside Jalen Brunson, too, helping the Knicks to win 113-111.

With the team turning the page to a 45-10 Cleveland squad, the Knicks will need the best from their stars.

Currently holding a 37-18 record, New York can reach the 40 wins before 20 losses mark — which Phil Jackson considers to be the mark of a contender.

Josh Hart’s injury status before Cavaliers game

It’s unclear whether Hart will be available for the contest, but the key wing will be much-needed for the Knicks as they look to continue improving upon their record as the No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau gave an update regarding Hart’s injury, however, after labeling him “day-to-day.”

“Just soreness,” Thibodeau said.

With a day-to-day injury, Hart will likely be labeled as questionable and go through some sort of shootaround or workout to see how he feels prior to the contest.

Given the Knicks’ short rotation and hefty minutes played by starters, Hart could benefit from the extended rest following the All-Star break, though the team would certainly like his defensive impact against a team like the Cavaliers, who have multiple All-Stars.

Needless to say, New York will have a close eye on the injuries of Hart and Anunoby moving forward as they look to establish themselves as contenders in the East.
