New Orleans Pelicans rookie Jeremiah Fears struggled in his Summer League debut, as he had 14 points and seven turnovers while fouling out during a 98-91 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite this, the former Oklahoma Sooners star is not lacking confidence.
During a recent interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Fears was asked about his career goals, and he believes he can be one of the league’s greatest point guards of all time.
“Top 2 point guard of all time,” Fears said. “(I) bring a lot to the table and continue to show everybody what I’m capable of every time I step on the floor, and just focus on the game that’s ahead of me and the practice that’s ahead of me.”
The New Orleans Pelicans dropped to 0-2 following a 94-81 loss against Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers last Saturday. Fears had 15 points and two rebounds but only shot 5-for-21 from the field in 29 minutes.
New Orleans Pelicans swingman Trey Murphy III is anxious to be cleared for contact after he suffered a torn labrum back in March 2025. During a recent interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the 25-year-old talked about his rehab progress.
“You know, I feel pretty good. I have started up my skill work outs, so I am able to do things with no restrictions and just waiting to get cleared for contact,” Murphy said via Pelicans Film Room.
Before hurting his shoulder, Murphy played 53 regular season games for the New Orleans Pelicans, having averaged 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals on 45.4 percent shooting from the field.
