During the Knicks' March 17 matchup against the Miami Heat at Madison Square Garden, there was an unfortunate incident involving comedian and actor Tracy Morgan, who was sitting courtside during the third quarter.
Morgan suddenly fell ill, vomiting and suffering a nosebleed before struggling to stand. The onsite staff medics immediately responded and escorted him from the arena in a wheelchair.
The entire incident delayed the game for more than 10 minutes, with fans and players expressing concern. According to the New York Post's Christian Arnold, Knicks star Josh Hart stated, "We hope everything's good with Tracy Morgan, avid lifetime Knicks fan, so prayers go out to him and his health and safety."
Morgan is no stranger to health issues. He was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1996, had a kidney transplant in 2010 and was in a serious car crash in 2014 that left him in a coma. Despite these setbacks, Morgan keeps moving forward. The "30 Rock" actor recently appeared at the "Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special" and has upcoming projects that include an untitled project, according to IMDB.
Following the incident at the Knicks game, Morgan provided an update on his health, stating that he was feeling better and that food poisoning was responsible. He also expressed gratitude to the Madison Square Garden staff for taking care of him, and he seemed to be in good spirits. He even joked that since the Knicks won with a final score of 116-95, he might have to repeat the act at future games.
"Thank you for all your concern! I’m doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning," Morgan said in an Instagram post. "Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!
"More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs."
With 15 games still left to play, the Knicks could use some luck, but players and fans would likely prefer Morgan stay healthy and stick to wearing a lucky hat or socks instead.
