TRADE: Lakers And Spurs G League Teams Make A Deal

Over the last five seasons, the G League has rapidly grown as a place to develop NBA players.

Currently, 28 out of the 30 G League teams are NBA affiliates.

Recently, the South Bay Lakers (G League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers) and the Austin Spurs (G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs) made a trade

Via The Austin Spurs on September 1: "The Austin Spurs today announced that they have agreed to a trade with the South Bay Lakers acquiring the returning player rights of Javante McCoy in exchange for the returning player rights of Chaundee Brown Jr. and a 2024 second round draft pick."

Brown Jr. has played in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks and Lakers and has career averages of 6.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 31.3% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range in five games.

He has played for both the South Bay Lakers and the Austin Spurs in the G League.

This past year, Brown Jr. averaged 14.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 44.7% from the field and 28.6% from the three-point range in 20 regular season games for the Austin Spurs (he also appeared in 17 Showcase Cup games). 

This summer, the 24-year-old signed with SIG Strasbourg

As for McCoy, he has yet to make his NBA debut but is coming off a year where he played for the South Bay Lakers. 

In 26 regular season games, he averaged 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest while shooting 52.4% from the field and 37.0% from the three-point range (he also appeared in 15 Showcase Cup games and one G League playoff game).
