Trae Young makes notable career move ahead of offseason

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young has made a notable career move ahead of what is expected to be a rumor-filled offseason.

Young announced on Tuesday that he has joined Creative Artists Agency, which means he has changed representation. The 25-year-old was previously represented by Omar Wilkes of Klutch Sports.

Rich Paul, who is LeBron James’ longtime friend and agent, is the CEO of Klutch Sports. Lakers star Anthony Davis is also represented by Paul.

There has been talk that Young could be an offseason trade target for the Lakers. Some wondered if L.A. could use the Klutch Sports connection to help facilitate a deal. While the Lakers could still pursue Young, it would seem the star point guard’s connections to Paul will no longer be a factor.

Young averaged 25.7 points and 10.8 assists per game this season. He signed a five-year, $207 million extension with Atlanta in 2021. Young has not given any indication that he wants to be traded this summer, though he did have a tense moment with a teammate during the final moments of the Hawks’ season.
