Trail Blazers sign guard Anfernee Simons to four-year, $100M extension

The Portland Trail Blazers have locked up Damian Lillard's backcourt mate, Anfernee Simons, for the next four seasons.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Trail Blazers and Simons agreed to a four-year, $100M contract extension on Thursday.

Simons' new deal, which expires after the 2025-26 season, will pay fourth-year pro an average of $25M per season.

The 23-year-old had a breakout campaign in 2021-22. Simons averaged 17.3 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in 57 games for the Trail Blazers. He shot 44% from the field and 40% from 3-point range.

Simons stepped up for the Blazers in March after Lillard was ruled out for the rest of the season with an abdominal injury. Starting 27 games without Lillard, Simons shot 45% from the field and 42% from 3, averaging 23.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds.

The Trail Blazers drafted Simons in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft with the No. 24 overall selection out of IMG Academy in Florida.
