Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for its third season of the basketball docuseries One Shot: Overtime Elite. The new season follows the journey of top high school basketball prospects competing in the Atlanta-based basketball league.
“This season, three of the league’s most electric talents step into the spotlight with everything to prove,” the official synopsis states. “Undersized but unstoppable, Eli Ellis is determined to earn the respect of the basketball world. After going viral, Taylen Kinney is suddenly thrust into the spotlight. And Meleek Thomas, a top NBA prospect with a fierce edge, still has a long climb ahead to reach his ambitious goal.”
Overtime Elite was founded in 2021 and just wrapped up its fourth season. The most notable athletes to play in the league are Amen Thompson and Ausar Thompson, and both were top-five picks in the 2023 NBA Draft.
The three players featured in One Shot: Overtime Elite are looking to do big things in the college basketball realm. Eli Ellis is now at South Carolina, Taylen Kinney is a top recruit in the Class of 2026, and Meleek Thomas has committed to Arkansas.
Ellis is one of the biggest stars in Overtime Elite history, as he was named league MVP twice, he’s the league’s all-time leading scorer and led his team, YNG Dreamerz , to a championship this past season. He now with the Gamecocks and is playing alongside fellow members of Overtime Elite’s YNG Dreamerz Hayden Assemian and Abu Yarmah.
“I think a few times we just look around and we’re like, ‘Oh wow. We’re all on the same college team. We just played high school, and now we’re all together,” Ellis told Mingo Martin of On3 this week. “It doesn’t feel real sometimes.”
Last November, Thomas spoke to Joe Tipton of On3 about being recruited by Arkansas. “Coach Cal (John Calipari) and Coach Chin (Coleman) just want to let me know that they’re there every step of the way. I hear from them very often, and I feel the love and it is genuine from them,” Thomas said. “I want to see how their recruitment looks and who all is going to be there when I’m there. That is what I’m waiting to see unfold. Their communication with me is excellent.”
Season 3 of One Shot: Overtime Elite will premiere on Prime Video on Thursday, Aug. 21. Fans can also go to Prime Video to watch the first and second seasons of the docuseries.
