Trinity Rodman is coming after ESPN for bringing up her father, former NBA star Dennis Rodman, during its coverage of Wimbledon on Monday. Trinity was in attendance to support her boyfriend, Ben Shelton, who went on to advance to the quarterfinals of the men’s singles.
Cameras panned over to her in the crowd, where she sat with Shelton’s parents and sister. The broadcast made mention of her being Dennis Rodman’s daughter in what was a brief moment.
Trinity Rodman has spoken publicly in the past about her estranged relationship with her father, and she took offense to ESPN bringing him up. She let the network know her thoughts in a post to her Instagram story.

“For Ben’s matches he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad… my dad’s not even in MY life no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don’t even want him talked about during mine,” Trinity wrote. “It’s him and his loved ones’ moment. Thank you.”
Trinity Rodman is soccer player for the Washington Spirit of the NWSL as well as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team. S he scored three goals last year during the 2024 Paris Olympics, helping Team USA win gold. She also played college soccer at Washington State.
This is not the first time that Trinity Rodman has addressed her relationship with her dad. She also appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast in December, where she opened up about how she felt toward him.
“He’s not a dad,” Trinity said. “Maybe by blood but nothing else. …With the dad situation, in terms of what I’ve filtered and what I’ve talked about, I feel like me and my brother have been very generous with the way that we’ve talked about it and very unselfish. I think we never want to make him look bad, and that is at the cost of holding in a lot, and a lot of issues we’ve gone through and just like, trauma, per se.
“Even now, I’m trying to be honest about it, and I’m still giving him sympathy. Which is frustrating for me because in reality, I think he’s an extremely selfish human being. I think everything has always been about him.”
It appears that the mention of her father on Monday opened up some of those feelings again, which led to her response. But she’ll look to put it all behind her as she’ll be out to support Shelton in his next match at 9:10 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
