The Los Angeles Clippers’ struggles continued Sunday night in a 108-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, marking their fifth defeat in six games. With a 32-28 record, the Clippers are now at risk of slipping further down the Western Conference standings into a play-in position.
Injuries have plagued the team in recent weeks, with key absences affecting their momentum. Norman Powell returned to action against the Lakers after missing five consecutive games, but exited in the first quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return.
Meanwhile, Ben Simmons was a late addition to the injury report with left knee soreness, and was ultimately ruled out.
After the game, Clippers head coach Ty Lue announced an update on Simmons’ status going forward.
"Ben Simmons is day-to-day, per Tyronn Lue," Justin Russo of Substack reported on X.

While this update does not provide an exact return date for Simmons, it does indicate his injury is not serious, making the announcement from Lue an encouraging one for the Clippers.
Simmons has missed three games since joining the Clippers, as availability has been a major issue for the three-time NBA All-Star, particularly since his time with the Brooklyn Nets.
Simmons, who joined the Clippers last month after securing a buyout with the Nets and clearing waivers, has played five games in LA, averaging 6.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 21.2 minutes per game. With the playoff race tightening, the Clippers will hope to have their squad healthy soon enough as they aim for automatic playoff qualification.
