A sixth man is an important player, that provides an impact to his team coming off the bench. That can come in a variety of forms, but usually, the sixth man is tasked with providing scoring as a backup. We often see the sixth man outscore some starters.

This season, Tyler Herro has been selected as the Sixth Man of the Year . He averaged 20.7 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 4.0 APG coming off the bench for the Miami Heat this season, and there's no doubt that he deserved the award.

After winning the award, Tyler Herro was asked in an interview about the players that influenced his game as a sixth man. Tyler Herro named Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford, claiming that "they paved the way" for every sixth man out there.

I mean you gotta salute Lou Will. For me growing up, watching just Lou being Sixth Man... when I think of the Sixth Man award, it's Lou Will or Jamal Crawford. Growing up, those are two guys that I grew up watching as a sixth man. They paved the way for all of us, and I just continue to keep it going

Hopefully, Tyler Herro is able to continue his exploits off the bench for the Miami Heat in the playoffs. He had a 25-point performance in Game 1 against the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Miami Heat will need him to continue scoring at a high level and providing offensive firepower off the bench.

Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford have both won the Sixth Man of the Year award three separate times. There's no doubt that Tyler Herro has some ways to go before being considered a legendary sixth man like those two players, but winning his first Sixth Man of the Year award is a great start.
