An interesting storyline surfaced Monday as Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton addressed the media about his two-month long endeavor with shingles. Haliburton expressed how the disease has caused him to gain a noticeable amount of weight and has lost half of his right eyebrow due to itching his eye so much. According to the Pacers star, the diagnosis came in February which caused Haliburton to take some time away from traveling with the team in order to treat the disease. Haliburton stated that his face, mainly his right eye, has been so itchy that it has caused him to lose half of his eye brow as well as produced a lot of swelling in his eye, practically forcing it shut because of him constantly itching it.
Haliburton stated, “I couldn’t even go in front of a camera if I wanted to early because my eye was basically closed shut.” Haliburton’s eye brow is noticeably gone as well as the weight gain which caused Haliburton to tell the media, “They’re calling me Tyrese Haliburger on social media.”
While Haliburton made light hearted comments like that one to reporters, you can tell he is quite frustrated with how shingles has hindered his rehab process on his achilles. From reports it sounds like it has dampened his ability to make progress on the injury that he sustained in Game 7 of last season's NBA Finals. The 26 year old seems eager to rejoin his peers on the basketball court, and the Pacers must be eager as well after going 19-63 this season.
