When he isn't in the action himself, Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey likes to keep tabs on games around the NBA. He was one of the many people to share their thoughts on Victor Wembanyama during the Spurs matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped 44 points in the 125-121 win for the Bucks, but Wembanyama stole the show. The Rookie of the Year frontrunner finished with 27 points and five blocks, along with an array of highlight plays.
As the action ensued, Maxey decided to hop on social media to share his thoughts on the matchup. The breakout star was blown away by the play of the 7-foot-4 rookie.
Wembanyama, who turned 20 this week, is in the midst of an impressive rookie season. Through his first two months in the league, the Spurs center is averaging 19.2 PPG, 10.1 RPG, and a league-leading 3.2 BPG.
Following this win, the Bucks maintain their lead on the Sixers in the Eastern Conference standings. They hold a one-game lead with a record of 25-10. Overall, the Sixers are three games out of first place, currently held by the Boston Celtics.
Most of the league has gotten an up-close look at Wembanyama, but the Sixers are still waiting. They will face off against the Spurs for the first time on January 20th at the Wells Fargo Center. The second matchup between these two teams comes at the end of the season on April 7th in San Antonio.
Similar to Maxey, Wembanyama is fighting for his first All-Star nomination this season. In the first round of fan voting, Wemby is eighth among Western Conference frontcourt players. Meanwhile, Maxey got the fifth-highest amount of votes among Eastern Conference guards.
