Al Horford’s sister has an old social media post that she might want to delete.
The five-time All-Star big man Horford agreed in principle on Sunday to sign with the Golden State Warriors as a free agent. As a result, Horford, 39, is set to play his 19th NBA season in the Bay Area.
In the wake of the news, an unfortunate old post by Horford’s sister Anna made the rounds online. Back in 2022, the Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics, Al’s old NBA team, in the NBA Finals. After Golden State’s series-clinching victory, Anna sent a profane message online.
“Congrats to the b–h a– Warriors,” Anna wrote at the time (profanity edited by LBS). “Yes, I’m salty. Yes, it was a s–tty loss. Love our guys & love how far we came. Sad for my brother who played an amazing game. Go Cs.”
You can see Anna’s post (which was still live as of the time of writing) at the link here.
It is tough to blame Anna for her sentiments at the time since that year’s Finals matchup meant the Warriors and the Celtics were enemies. But perhaps it was inevitable that something like this would come back to bite her given that Anna has long been known for her vulgar comments about other teams over social media.
As for Al, he himself will have past awkwardness to overcome in Golden State too. For one, he is now about to be teammates on the Warriors with one of his formerly hated playoff enemies.
