In ESPN’s recent mock draft, they had the Utah Jazz rolling the dice on an interesting prospect with the No. 10 overall pick.
As expected, it was a pretty bad season for the Utah Jazz, as they finished with a 31-51 record in the Western Conference, as they continue to work on their rebuild. In the last couple of years, we have seen the Jazz trade players like Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert for a haul of draft picks.
Despite moving on from some very talented players and getting a lot of draft capital in return, the Jazz haven’t quite taken a step forward in their rebuild yet. While the Jazz did have a winning record at home, they were dreadful on the road.
As the team eyes getting better and likely a lengthy rebuilding process, they need to try and take the best players available in the draft. In ESPN’s recent mock draft, they had the Utah Jazz taking an interesting prospect in Ron Holland from the G League. Here’s what they had to say about the pick.
Rolling the dice on Holland, once viewed as a candidate for the top pick, might be an interesting value play if he’s on the board here. His competitiveness, defensive versatility, and aggressiveness could be a solid option alongside playmakers such as Keyonte George and Collin Sexton to help lessen his scoring load and allow him to assume his more natural role as a high-energy defender on the wing. – Givony
Holland was the top prospect in the 2023 recruiting class but has seen his stock drop since last year. However, as a former top recruit, there is certainly some upside for a player like Holland, who is just 18 years old.
For the Utah Jazz, they need to focus on hitting on some of these high draft picks that they will be getting in the next number of years.
