Memphis Grizzlies forward GG Jackson thought he had the game-tying buzzer beater in NBA Summer League action against the Utah Jazz on Monday. With his team trailing by three, Jackson got off a last-second shot attempt that looked like it could have been beyond the 3-point line.
The shot banked in, but officials immediately ruled it a two-pointer as Jackson’s foot was on the line. He pleaded his case with the refs but to no avail as the Grizzlies lost 112-111. You can view the play below.

Jackson finished the game with a team-high 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting. He also added five rebounds and a pair of blocks, but the shot at the end will surely haunt him.
On the other side, Brice Sensabaugh lit up the scoreboard for 37 points on 9-of-14 shooting. The back-and-forth between both scorers certainly made things interesting all the way down to the end for fans in attendance.
GG Jackson just wrapped up his second NBA season after being selected by the Grizzlies in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft out of South Carolina. He averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 rebounds across 15.8 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-9 forward will look to continue proving himself this summer in spite of Monday evening’s loss. Next up, the Grizzlies face the Philadelphia 76ers at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday in Salt Lake City.
The Memphis Grizzlies showed their commitment to Jaren Jackson Jr. for the long term on Monday. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Jackson and the team reached an agreement on a five-year maximum extension of his contract worth $240 million.
Jackson was getting ready to enter the final year of his current contract in the 2025-26 season and will make $23.4 million according to Spotrac. The extension now keeps him through 2029-30.
The 6-foot-10 big man just wrapped up his seventh season in Memphis, which selected him fourth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. His accolades thus far include two All-Star appearances, three NBA All-Defensive team selections and a Defensive Player of the Year award in 2022-23.
Jackson has developed a reputation as one of the league’s elite shot blockers, leading the NBA in blocks per game in 2021-22 and 2022-23. This past season he put up 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
