Vanessa Bryant settles wrongful death lawsuit against helicopter company in Kobe Bryant crash

Vanessa Bryant agreed to settle a wrongful death lawsuit against the helicopter company involved in the crash that killed her husband Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianna Bryant and seven others on Jan. 26, 2020, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Following the crash, Bryant and relatives of the other passengers killed filed a lawsuit against Island Express Helicopters, saying the company and pilot Ara Zobayan, who also died, should have made the decision not to fly given the weather conditions.

Bryant was reportedly seeking "hundreds of millions of dollars" in damages in the lawsuit. Island Express Helicopters responded to the case in May 2020, saying that all passengers were aware of and "had actual knowledge of all of the circumstances, particular dangers, and an appreciation of the risks involved and the magnitude thereof."

The settlement terms aren't clear.

While the lawsuit has now been settled, Bryant still has another case ongoing. She is suing the County of Los Angeles after sheriff deputies took photos from the crash scene.
