Over a legendary 22-year NBA career, LeBron James has earned more than $520 million in salary. This is testament to his longevity and his incredible achievements on the hardwood, which include the all-time records for minutes played and points scored -- as well as four championship rings.
Like James, point guard Mike Conley was a top-five draft pick who has played for three teams in his career. But unlike James, Conley has never had the opportunity to play in the NBA Finals.
Conley, now in his 18th season, has emerged as a steadying veteran presence on the Minnesota Timberwolves, who will reach the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history if they can overcome the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference finals.
It is a chance the 37-year-old Conley -- whose $284 million in career salary pales next to James' earnings -- has been waiting for since he was selected fourth overall in the 2007 NBA Draft.

Despite entering the 2024-25 season with a lingering left wrist injury, Conley has played 82 combined games between the regular season and the playoffs. He began paying closer attention to his health after undergoing season-ending heel surgery in 2018, embarking on disciplined regimen that included abstention from red meat, red light therapy and twice-daily cold tub usage.
“I don’t have as much money as (James),” Conley said. “But I put a lot of money into my body as well. My diet is a big deal. My recovery is a big deal. I consider LeBron every now and then, ‘I’m trying to do what you do.’ Whatever that is, I need all that help.”
Conley's emphasis on recovery has played a significant role in his staying power as an NBA point guard with nearly 1,300 games' worth of experience. He plans to play two more seasons to reach 20 years in the NBA -- and only time will tell if Conley can cap his career with a championship.
