A surprising player managed to scale the highest mountain in the NBA this week.
Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs were facing off on Wednesday for a preseason game against the Miami Heat. During the first quarter at Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla., Heat rookie Kasparas Jakucionis drove to the rim and hit a cutting Jaquez with the pass. In one motion, Jaquez rose up and dunked on a rotating Wembanyama.

Take a look at another angle of Jaquez’s emphatic jam.

That might not have been a true poster by Jaquez since Wembanyama was off to the side and only seemed to give a halfhearted attempt to block the shot. But it was still plenty impressive nevertheless by the 6-foot-6 forward Jaquez.

Jaquez often surprises people with his athleticism and even made a surprise appearance during the 2024 Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend. But of all the likely candidates in the NBA to dunk on Wembanyama, Jaquez would be relatively low on the list.
The closest poster that we had seen of Wembanyama to date was when Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant got him after the whistle during a game last season. Wembanyama is apparently getting even taller too, so that may be the single toughest task in professional sports right now.
