Victor Wembanyama Reacts To Getting Posterized By Warriors Rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis

It is just a part of the game at the end of the day as Wembanyama says, especially for someone like him who has to defend the rim. The 20-year-old isn't going to shy away from doing his job just so that he avoids getting posterized, and you respect that.

We see a fair few players just get out of the way when they realize it might happen because they don't want to be ridiculed on social media. Wembanyama, though, isn't losing any sleep over it.

What he might be losing sleep over, though, is losing games and the Spurs lost 112-102 here. Wembanyama had 27 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks in the contest, but only shot 10-25 from the field and 3-9 from beyond the arc. The Spurs dropped to 14-51 with the loss and look set to finish the season at the bottom of the standings in the West.

Trayce Jackson-Davis Spoke On The Dunk

Jackson-Davis was asked about posterizing Wembanyama during his press conference, and he revealed he had told Kevon Looney before the game that he would try to dunk on the Frenchman.

"I saw that he overplayed it, he overplayed it to my right," Jackson-Davis said. "Obviously, I'm left-handed so I think I spun and got to my left hand and then I had to step on him. Just trying him, I told Loon before the game that if I got the chance to try him, I would. At the end of the day, sometimes you dunk on people, sometimes you get dunked on. It’s just a basketball play"

Jackson-Davis echoed the same sentiments as Wembanyama at the end there. The 24-year-old does appear to have a good head on his shoulders and he played well here too. Jackson-Davis ended up with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, as he recorded his fifth double-double of the season.

The rookie is starting to make a name for himself and this was his second big highlight play in less than a week. Jackson-Davis blocked Giannis Antetokounmpo multiple times when the Warriors faced the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this month. Golden State had selected him with the 57th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft and he looks like quite the steal as of now.

Getting back to this game, victory here also meant that the Warriors finally won a game without Stephen Curry for the first time this season. They were 0-4 prior to this one when he didn't play and the Warriors, who now have a 34-30 record, would be hoping he can return soon.
