Víctor Wembanyama could not prevent the San Antonio Spurs from losing their first game of the season on Sunday.

The 5-0 Spurs were defeated 130-118 by the Phoenix Suns due to a disappointing performance from their best player.

Wembanyama has been exceptional this year, leading many to believe that he could even win the Most Valuable Player award.

However, the Frenchman did not play like an MVP, or even an All-Star, against the Suns, recording an unwanted stat that LeBron James last did 18 years ago.

Unwanted Victor Wembanyama stat makes LeBron James feat more impressive

Wembanyama was averaging over 30 points and 14 rebounds per game before the Spurs’ defeat to the Suns.

For some inexplicable reason, Wemby failed to reproduce those numbers over the weekend, as he provided just nine points and nine rebounds.

He made just four of his 14 field goal attempts (28.6%) and only one of his five three-point shots (20%).

Star players like Wembanyama should never score less than 10 points, which is highlighted by one of LeBron James’ many impressive records.

James has the longest active streak of games with 10 or more points (~1300), dating back to January 2007.

And if you exclude games where LeBron suffered an injury, the last time he scored single-digit points was on February 11, 2004, when Wembanyama was one month old.

Victor Wembanyama’s poor performance vs Suns makes no sense

Victor Wembanyama’s dismal performance against the Phoenix Suns made absolutely no sense.

The Suns are still below .500 after their victory against the Spurs and have a below-average defense.

Wembanyama has already dominated against Bam Adebayo and Ivica Zubac this season, so a big man rotation of Mark Williams , Oso Ighodaro, and Nick Richards should not have bothered him.

Perhaps it was just one of those off-nights where nothing was falling, but superstars should not experience those.

Especially at seven feet, four inches tall, Wembanyama must be able to score some easy points when the going gets tough.
