Now that the NBA season is officially over, the attention of the world is at Victor Wembanyama’s Olympic debut.
The latest Rookie of the Year is one of the most highly anticipated athletes in the 2024 Summer Olympics that will happen in his backyard. The host nation will come out in droves to support the boy who is the great hope of Les Bleus‘ international basketball dreams.
His national team is far from the favorites to win the Men’s Basketball event due to the Americans bringing a star-studded roster to the Games. However, he and his teammate in the French national team would strike fear in the hearts of any players who would attempt to come inside their paint.
WembyMuse, an account dedicated to documenting everything the San Antonio Spurs star will be doing in the league, posted an interesting reminder that will have teams second-guessing before even trying to come into the paint:

The fact that France will always have a towering presence down low will have the United States and the rest of the playing field adjusting their approaches to the rim.
Rudy Gobert has been phenomenal for the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, averaging 2.1 blocks a game on top of his 14.0 PPG and 12.9 RPG.
Meanwhile, Wemby is proving himself to be an unstoppable unicorn for the Spurs. The 20-year-old had a monster debut campaign, averaging 21.4 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.2 SPG, and a league-leading 3.6 BPG.
The fact that this is only Victor Wembanyama’s first Olympics will bring fear to basketball fans across Europe and around the world. He’s proving himself to be a special kind of player that will inevitably be considered as one of the greats if he continues his incredible trajectory.
Maybe winning the gold medal over USA in front of an adoring home crowd would be a great way to start building his legacy.
