Victor Wembanyama led the San Antonio Spurs to an impressive 133-95 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves last night, evening the Western Conference semifinal series 1-1. If the Spurs can stay in the NBA Playoffs for another two weeks, their run will coincide with Wembanyama's latest sneaker drop.

Nike has already pre-loaded Wembanyama's latest player-edition shoes onto its website, and it is a bold departure from what fans are used to seeing the NBA Defensive Player of the Year wear on the court. Not only is it a different model, but it is the debut of Wembanyama's secondary signature logo.

Nike G.T. Cut 4 "Victor Wembanyama"

The Nike G.T. Cut 4 "Victor Wembanyama" will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, May 20. Online shoppers will be able to buy the performance basketball shoes for $210 in adult sizes on the Nike SNKRS app.

The silhouette sports a Black upper with Metallic Gold and Bright Crimson detailing. The fierce colorway draws inspiration from Wembanyama's cat-like reflexes and unparalleled defensive talent. However, the most notable change is the new "VW" logo inspired by Wembanyama's initials. This is likely just a secondary logo (similar to how LeBron James has multiple logos with Nike).

However, we still prefer the alien logo as it is one of the most creative signature logos Nike has produced in years. Lately, the trend has been interlocking player initials, and Wembanyana's secondary logo is not far from that look.

Wembanyama's alien logo appeared on the Nike G.T. Cut 4 "All-Star Warning Label" colorway and is objectively better. However, there is one major issue with Wemabanyama's Nike G.T. Cut 4 colorways — he does not wear them on the court.

Nike G.T. Hustle 3

Wembanyama's Nike G.T. Hustle 3 colorways have a retail price of $210 in adult sizes, but are marked down online. Shoppers can buy the "Deep Winter" colorway for $127 (39% off) and the "Haunted Heights" colorway for $106 (49% off) at Nike.com.

Nike is pushing the G.T. Cut 4 over the G.T. Hustle 3, but the latter has garnered much stronger reviews from hoopers. Despite its sleek, low-cut design, athletes have complained about everything from the fit to the comfort of the Nike G.T. Cut 4.

Let's hope Nike does not stray too far away from Wembanyana's alien-inspired marketing campaign or the shoes that helped make him a two-time NBA All-Star. Stay locked into Sports Illustrated's Kicks On SI for all your footwear news from the NBA and beyond.
