Video: Jayson Tatum Sends Condolences To Ernie Johnson After Mother's Passing
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Jayson Tatum shared his condolences with Ernie Johnson after the news of his mother passing away.

Jayson Tatum finally overcame the Golden State Warriors tonight after a string of tough losses against the team that beat them in the 2022 NBA Finals. While Tatum's performance wasn't perfect, his 34 points and 18 rebounds were more than enough to help the Celtics win a hard-fought contest in OT.

The game was broadcasted nationally on TNT, with the iconic Inside The NBA crew accompanying the game with their analysis. However, Ernie Johnson was noticeably absent from the crew. The show revealed that EJ's mother had passed away and Ernie was unavailable for the evening.

In his post-game interview with TNT after starring in the Celtics' win, Tatum decided to send his love and condolences to the Johnson family.

'Prayers and condolences go out to Ernie and his family. You hate to hear that. Love you, man. Praying for you and your family, wish you well."

Ernie is one of the most beloved figures in all of sports media. When he is hurting, all the people that know him hurt with him. This is an incredibly tough loss and we also would like to send our condolences to Ernie Johnson and his family.

Jayson Tatum Stepping Up To The Plate

Even if Jayson Tatum ended up having an inefficient shooting night, his defensive performance was extremely valuable for the Celtics. He also converted whenever he got to the free throw line, putting up important points even when his jump shot wasn't falling.

Tatum was criticized heavily after the Celtics were blown out by the Warriors earlier in the season. He stayed aggressive throughout the night and worked very hard to assert himself on the boards, grabbing a season-high 18 rebounds on the night.
