Vince Carter believes Giannis will stay with Bucks: 'I look at him like a Damian Lillard'

The Milwaukee Bucks are coming off a massively disappointing playoff exit, as they were handily beaten by the Miami Heat in five games. With Giannis on the last year of his contract, speculation has begun about the soon-to-be two-time MVP leaving Milwaukee to join another team. However, Vince Carter said he believes Giannis will stay while comparing him to another superstar who has stuck with his team despite never winning a championship.

"I look at him like a Damian Lillard who feels like he can win a championship there and he's good enough where guys want to come play with him," Carter said on "Get Up." "Not the biggest market in the world but I don't think that matters. When you're winning, you're on TV ... guys will migrate to a good team if need be."

Giannis reportedly met with the Bucks co-owner and governor Marc Lasry over the weekend, and Lasry told Giannis that the team was willing to spend into the luxury tax in order to win. Carter believes that will encourage Giannis to stick with the team.

"Now you're hearing, 'We'll spend in the luxury tax.' That makes you feel good... You don't want to move unless you have to."

As for what the Bucks need to do in order to overcome their playoff struggles, Carter pointed to the team adding an additional scoring option to help Giannis.

"You just gotta go get you a scorer. You just gotta go get you a guy who can go get it and take some pressure off of Giannis."
