Al Horford will be out for at least a week for the Warriors with right sciatic nerve irritation, per Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Anthony Slater of ESPN added that Horford will miss the next three games. That starts with Utah on Monday, then Houston on Wednesday, then New Orleans on Saturday.
Horford has been adjusting to a bench role and the numbers show it. Lowest minutes of his career. Lowest points, rebounds and assists.
His 3-point percentage is also down compared to the past decade. Some of that is age. Some of that is role.
Now he is dealing with the same issue that kept LeBron James out of the Lakers lineup for the first 14 games. Golden State believes Horford’s situation is not as severe.
The Warriors need any help they can get. The hot 4-1 start has cooled and they are sitting at 9-9 with three straight losses.
The frontcourt is already thin. Jonathan Kuminga is still out with knee tendonitis and Draymond Green is questionable with a foot sprain.
Horford’s absence just adds another wrinkle to a team trying to regain its footing.
