Warriors Among Teams Interested in Former Raptors Champion: Report

The Golden State Warriors entered the NBA offseason looking to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green to help chase another championship next season.

Despite this, Golden State has yet to make any moves outside of the NBA draft where they selected Alex Toohey and Will Richard in the second round.

Those are the only two new additions to the Warriors’ roster thus far and they also lost Kevon Looney in free agency as he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans, further hurting Golden State’s frontcourt.

Of course, the Warriors are still awaiting a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, which has caused them to miss out on multiple potential targets, especially for their frontcourt.

Golden State has been linked to Boston Celtics champion Al Horford to bolster their frontcourt but if he decides to retire or sign elsewhere, they will have to find a different big man.

One player who has recently been linked to the Warriors is former Toronto Raptors champion Chris Boucher.

According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, the Warriors are among the team who have checked in on Boucher as he has generated interest from multiple contenders as a potential signing on a veteran’s minimum.

With the Warriors struggling with their frontcourt depth, Boucher would be a solid addition to the roster and it would also not be the first time he has been in Golden State.

Of course, Boucher began his NBA career with the Warriors, though he played only one game for them during his rookie season before heading to Toronto in 2018.

During his time with the Raptors, Boucher has proven to be a solid backup big man due to his outside shooting and rim protection, both of which the Warriors could use.

Despite this, Sidery mentioned many teams in his report that have shown interest in the 32-year-old big man, meaning he has multiple options on where he will continue his NBA career next season.
