Draymond Green did not suit up for the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. The former Defensive Player of the Year was a late scratch due to a lower back injury. Despite Green’s absence, the Warriors were still able to defeat the Denver Nuggets, 128-117.
Green’s back injury is not considered serious. He was tagged as questionable to play against the Nuggets and was not ruled out until close to tip-off.
The Warriors are back in action on Tuesday. They face off against the 16-42 New Orleans Pelicans in a road matchup at Smoothie King Center. The good news for Golden State is that Green has recovered from his back issue.
The Warriors are 1-1 after the NBA All-Star break. They enter Tuesday’s contest in New Orleans with a 30-27 record and eighth in the Western Conference. As of writing, they are still 4.5 games outside the top six and a guaranteed playoff spot.
The Warriors have gotten a boost ahead of Tuesday’s game. This comes in the form of Green returning to action after one missed contest. Golden State announced via the official injury report that the 35-year-old veteran is available to play against the Pelicans.
Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis remain out with respective injuries, though. This will leave the Warriors’ frontcourt considerably thin. This highlights the importance of Green’s return.
It is important to note that the Warriors play twice in two nights. They will face the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday in another road matchup. At this point, it remains to be seen if Green will be able to play on both nights of a back-to-back, considering his back issue.
