Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors scored a big win on Wednesday night. They entered hostile territory to battle the San Antonio Spurs at the Frost Bank Center, as part of their current six-game road trip. Golden State came into Wednesday’s contest behind a six-game losing streak on the road and was in desperate need of a win.

That’s exactly what the Warriors did thanks to a vintage performance from Steph Curry. The two-time NBA MVP dropped a game-high 46 points on 13-of-25 shooting, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and five triples to lead his team to a hard-fought 125-120 victory against Victor Wembanyama and Co.

The Warriors came into Wednesday’s matchup with a 6-6 record, and Coach Kerr said before the game that it was time to make some “drastic” changes to his rotation. This came in the form of Moses Moody and rookie Will Richard entering the starting lineup alongside Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler. Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski were shifted to a bench role.

While Kerr did not indicate if this move is permanent, the four-time NBA champion coach announced after the win that he intends to field the same starting lineup in Friday’s rematch against the Spurs, per ESPN reporter Anthony Slater.

“[Kerr] said he likes the extra shooting around Butler and views Richard as a ball-mover that helps offense flow around Curry/Draymond,” Slater reported on X.

Moody, who made his third start of the season on Wednesday, was excellent against the Spurs. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard registered 19 points, three rebounds, three assists and five threes in 26 minutes of action. Richard, on the other hand, logged three points, one rebound and an assist in 22 minutes.

It is worth noting that Kuminga was unable to finish Wednesday’s game because of an injury. The 6-foot-8 forward exited late in the first half due to knee soreness. The Warriors later ruled him out for the remainder of the game. Kuminga was initially questionable against the Spurs because of the knee issue before he was cleared to play before tip-off.

Golden State improved to 7-6 after Wednesday’s win, and they will be looking to make it back-to-back victories against San Antonio on Friday.
