Warriors Announce Steph Curry Development After 2 Missed Games

It’s no coincidence that the Golden State Warriors have lost back-to-back games with Steph Curry out of commission. The two-time NBA MVP has missed the last two contests due to an illness, and it has resulted in Golden State losing twice in a row, including Friday’s 129-104 blowout defeat at the hands of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

Curry has been trending towards his much-anticipated return to the court. In fact, the Warriors initially listed the 11-time All-Star as questionable to play for Sunday's matchup against the Indiana Pacers. A new development emerged before the game, however, and it is not good news for Curry.

Curry is now in his 17th season with the Warriors. He’s had a hot start to the new campaign, averaging 26.8 points on 45.4% shooting, 3.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals. Curry has also knocked down a league-best 4.4 triples per game on a 38.9% clip.

The 6-foot-2 point guard’s hot streak was cut short by an illness, though. He initially played through his sickness, but his condition worsened, forcing him to sit out the Warriors’ next two games.

There was optimism that Curry would be able to return for Sunday's game against Indiana, but it has now been confirmed that this will not be the case. The Warriors announced via the official injury report that Curry has been ruled out for the Pacers game contest as he continues to nurse an illness.

It is also worth noting that veteran center Al Horford, who also sat out Friday’s loss to the Nuggets, remains questionable to play due to a left foot strain.

Curry’s next chance to return will be on Tuesday in a highly anticipated matchup against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder. That will be the first night of a back-to-back set, though, with the Warriors also scheduled to play on Wednesday against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
