The Golden State Warriors have dropped two straight games entering Friday’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. Golden State currently holds the 8th seed in the Western Conference with a 9–8 record.
The Warriors were shorthanded during Wednesday’s loss to the Miami Heat, as multiple stars missed the game, none more impactful than Steph Curry.
The 37-year-old veteran point guard has shown no signs of slowing down in his 17th NBA season. Through his first 13 games, Curry has averaged 27.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 46.4% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range.
The NBA’s all-time leader in made three-pointers continues to widen the gap, averaging 4.5 makes per game. That mark leads the league and remains a key part of his offensive dominance.
As the Warriors look to avoid a third consecutive defeat on Friday against the Trail Blazers, Curry’s status had been uncertain. He tweaked his ankle in Tuesday’s loss to the Orlando Magic, which forced him to sit out against the Heat the next day.
Fortunately, Golden State announced its official injury report on Thursday, and Curry was removed, indicating he is a full-go (h/t Anthony Slater of ESPN). That is a positive development for the Warriors, as it appears Curry has put the injury behind him and will look to get the team back on track.
Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Buddy Hield are probable vs Blazers tomorrow night. Steph Curry is cleared for return. Jonathan Kuminga remains out with knee tendinitis.

Curry’s impact on the Warriors remains as important as ever. With him, no potential run to the NBA Finals can be ruled out, as he has led the franchise to four championships during his tenure. The former first-round pick in the 2009 NBA Draft out of Davidson continues to cement his legacy with individual accolades and is well on his way to the Hall of Fame. He is an 11-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection, two-time scoring champion and two-time MVP.
This season, Curry remains the focal point of Golden State’s offense, especially with Draymond Green anchoring the defense and Jimmy Butler now in the mix as a secondary scoring option. The trio gives the Warriors a balanced core, and if Curry stays healthy, the team has the pieces to make a deep playoff run.
