The Golden State Warriors have remained competitive in the Western Conference, yet there are concerns about whether the team has the depth to make a serious run in the NBA playoffs. This comes despite superstar Steph Curry continuing to play at an elite level in his 17th season.
The 37-year-old point guard has showcased his unmatched shooting range, quick release and singular ability to stretch defenses in ways only he can.
His off-ball movement, ball handling and vision further amplify his impact, allowing him to dictate the flow of the Warriors’ offense night after night.
Curry has averaged 28.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 46.8% from the field and 39.4% from beyond the arc through his first 25 appearances.
On Monday, Curry led Golden State past the Brooklyn Nets with a 27-point performance, helping the team improve to an 18–16 record.
The Warriors now face a difficult challenge in their next matchup on Friday against the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, and there is a chance they could be severely shorthanded.
Golden State’s latest injury report immediately ruled out defensive anchor Draymond Green, but the bigger concern was Curry being added with an ankle injury and listed as questionable (h/t Anthony Slater of ESPN).
Draymond Green is out tomorrow night vs the Thunder. Resting. Steph Curry is questionable with an ankle sprain. De’Anthony Melton questionable. Al Horford and Trayce Jackson-Davis probable.

It’s the front side of a home back-to-back. Warriors face the Jazz on Saturday night.
This marks the first mention of the issue, leaving his status in doubt and raising the possibility of a significant setback. Losing Curry, even temporarily, would be a major blow to a team already battling questions about depth and consistency.
Curry’s legacy is already secure. He has spent his entire career with Golden State since being selected seventh overall out of Davidson in the 2009 NBA Draft, and in that time he has built a body of work that firmly places him among the greatest players in basketball history.
His accolades speak for themselves. He is an 11-time All-Star, two-time scoring champion, four-time NBA champion, 11-time All-NBA selection, two-time MVP and the 2021–22 Finals MVP. Beyond the awards, he is the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers made and the foundational piece of one of the most dominant dynasties in modern sports.
Regardless of whether he suits up Friday, his ankle will be something to monitor closely moving forward given his importance to the Warriors.
Curry’s health remains the single most critical factor in determining how far Golden State can push in the Western Conference this season.
