Warriors continue to torment former nemeses in Game 7 win

The Golden State Warriors bounced back from two rough games to win Game 7 against the Houston Rockets, 103-89. It was a familiar end for some Rockets players, coaches and the city of Houston itself, as Steph Curry and Draymond Green won a series over the Rockets for the fifth time in their careers.

The Warriors won Game 7 on the road in Houston Sunday night, 103-89. While the coaches and players have changed from the Rockets teams that the Warriors beat in the playoffs in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, it's another blow for Rockets fans, who had to watch Steve Kerr's Warriors knock out their team on their home floor, just like they did in 2018 and 2019.

It's the second time center Steven Adams has lost a Game 7 to the Warriors, having lost a 3-1 lead to Curry and Green's team in 2016 with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He and Dillon Brooks also got bounced from the playoffs on the Memphis Grizzlies in 2022. Adams had been dominating the Warriors, but on Sunday, he was -9 in his 26 minutes, scoring three points. Brooks shot 3-of-9 and scored only eight points.

Rockets head coach Ime Udoka lost to the Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals, when Udoka was coaching the Boston Celtics. Golden State won Game 6 on the road to eliminate the Celtics. Like Sunday night, Curry scored big in the fourth quarter and delivered a "Night Night" celebration when the Warriors took an insurmountable lead.

Curry is 37, and Green is 35. They don't have many years left, while the Rockets, who played five players 23 or younger Sunday, should have many years ahead of them.

This defeat doesn't mean the Rockets' future is any less bright. But it does mean that a lot of people in Houston missed what could have been their last chance to finally beat Curry in the playoffs.
