Warriors Could Send Jonathan Kuminga to Surprise West Team For Veteran Guard: Report

It has been a slow offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors as they have yet to make any moves in free agency.

Of course, the Warriors entered the offseason looking to upgrade their center position but they have yet to do so as many of the top centers on the market have already been scooped up by opposing teams.

Despite this, Golden State is reportedly in the running to sign Boston Celtics champion Al Horford, but they are quickly running out of options.

The Warriors are also awaiting Jonathan Kuminga’s decision in free agency as the restricted free agent is still meeting with other teams to make a decision about his future.

One team that has recently emerged as a potential suitor for the young forward is the Sacramento Kings and a recent report suggests that they would be interested in trading one of their veteran guards in a sign-and-trade for Kuminga.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Kings would be interested in including Malik Monk in a trade package for Kuminga.

“Sources say that Sacramento, meanwhile, would be interested in including Malik Monk in any outgoing trade package, but nothing substantial has materialized with the Warriors,” Fischer wrote.

This is a major report by Fischer and one that could bode well for the Warriors as Monk would be a solid addition to their roster.

Of course, Kuminga could still elect to return to Golden State but with his role uncertain, it is likely that he will be on the move this summer via a sign-and-trade.

For Golden State, sending Kuminga to Sacramento for a trade package centered around Monk would be a solid outcome as Monk would provide them with another great shooter off the bench who could also be inserted into the starting lineup at times.

While that may be the case, Kuminga first has to be interested in signing with the Kings and there are also many other franchises looking to add the young forward this offseason that might offer the Warriors a better trade package.
