Steph Curry remains out of action for the Golden State Warriors in Sunday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets. The 12-time All-Star is still working his way back from a lingering knee injury. Curry is making progress in his road to recovery, but the Warriors have not provided a firm timetable for his long-awaited return.
Curry has managed just 39 games amid his injury-riddled 2025-26 campaign. The former back-to-back MVP has averaged 27.2 points on 46.8% shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.3 minutes per contest. He’s also knocking down 4.5 triples per game on a 39.1% clip.
The Warriors entered Sunday’s game in Denver with a 36-38 record and 10th in the Western Conference. Even before tip-off, they received some official news about their NBA playoff hopes this season.
The Warriors have officially clinched a spot in the play-in tournament for a third straight season. This is after the Houston Rockets defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, 134-102.
It was already previously known that Golden State is heading to the play-in again this season, but Sunday’s result made it official. The team can now continue planning for the play-in tournament with the hopes of securing a spot in the playoffs.
The Warriors, however, are facing a crucial decision on Curry. Head coach Steve Kerr recently conceded that they are running out of time on Curry. The team is adamant that they do not want to bring him back just for the play-in game. The Warriors want to ramp Curry up and have him play a few games before the tournament.
After Sunday’s game against Denver, Golden State will have seven games left in the regular season. Their next game is on Wednesday against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. As of writing, there is still no word on whether Curry will be available for that game.
At this point, the Warriors are facing a potentially season-ending decision on Curry. If he is not able to return within the next couple of weeks, Kerr has already intimated that they could shut down the 38-year-old for the rest of the campaign.
Curry’s knee is expected to be re-evaluated this week, and the results of this latest round of tests will be of utmost importance to his and the Warriors’ season.
