Warriors, Kings Pitched to Make Interesting Trade Involving Jonathan Kuminga

The Sacramento Kings have had an interesting offseason thus far as they have made multiple additions to their roster to chase a playoff spot next season.

Of course, the Kings finished ninth in the Western Conference last season and failed to make the playoffs after being eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in the Play-In Tournament.

Due to that, they are looking to turn things around next season and make the playoffs behind their core of Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine.

Sacramento was able to upgrade their point guard position in free agency by adding Dennis Schroder via a sign-and-trade with the Detroit Pistons and they also added two young players in the draft by selecting Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud.

While the Kings have made some solid moves thus far, they have been linked to many other players around the NBA including Golden State Warriors restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.

FanSided’s Will Eudy recently proposed a mock trade that would send Kuminga to Sacramento via a sign-and-trade while the Kings would send Devin Carter and two second-round picks to Golden State.

“If the Golden State Warriors truly have a chance to flip Jonathan Kuminga for Devin Carter and a pair of second-round picks, they should not hesitate for a second,” Eudy wrote.

Of course, the Warriors have set a high asking price for Kuminga this offseason but with his role in Golden State uncertain next season, they may be forced to lower it if they want to move on from him.

For the Kings, swapping Carter and a couple of second-round picks for Kuminga would be a solid move for them as the young forward would give them another solid scorer and defender.

Kuminga would likely come off the bench for the Kings, unless they end up moving DeRozan who has been in trade rumors all offseason.

Either way, Kuminga would have a larger role in Sacramento than he is expected to have in Golden State and he would also become a key piece of the Kings’ future if they decide to rebuild in the near future.
