It was an interesting season for the Golden State Warriors as they went from being out of the playoff race early in the season to looking like a title contender after adding Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline.
Of course, Golden State’s season came to a disappointing end in the second round of the playoffs as they lost in five games to the Minnesota Timberwolves after Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1.
Now the Warriors enter a crucial offseason as they try to build around their aging core of Curry, Butler and Draymond Green and they also have a key decision to make on whether they want to keep Jonathan Kuminga who is a restricted free agent.
Either way, the Warriors need to upgrade their roster, especially the center position, if they want a chance to compete for a championship next season.
With this in mind, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz recently released his top three dream offseason trade targets for the Warriors.
Swartz’s list is headlined by Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis and also includes Derrick White of the Boston Celtics and Coby White of the Chicago Bulls.
For Sabonis, he would be a great fit on Golden State’s roster but the Warriors would likely have to move Green to acquire him due to salary reasons.
Despite this, Sabonis would fill a massive hole the Warriors have at the center position as he would give them a great scorer, rebounder and playmaker next to Curry and Butler.
Derrick White would also be a great fit as he would give the Warriors a great scorer and defender next to Curry in the backcourt that could elevate them to a title next season.
For Coby White, he would give the Warriors a much-needed scorer alongside Curry and Butler and if Golden State could also pry away Nikola Vucevic in a potential trade with the Bulls, they could address two key needs.
Either way, the Warriors clearly need to fill some holes in their roster in the offseason or it may be another early playoff exit next season.
