The Golden State Warriors looked like one of the top teams in the NBA after the trade deadline, following their acquisition of Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler. While he isn't the All-NBA talent he's been in years past, he still made his impact on both sides of the floor to help push the Warriors into the playoffs as the seventh seed in the West.
Unfortunately, the Warriors' season came to an end during the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, losing in five games. With Steph Curry sidelined during a majority of the series, the team was able to see a strong showing from guard Brandin Podziemski in Game 5. Now, in the offseason, the Warriors recently released significant injury news on the guard.

The following statement is from Warriors PR, regarding a recent surgery for Podziemski to repair a muscle injury:
"Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski underwent successful surgery yesterday to repair a core muscle injury. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of training camp. Podziemski previously underwent successful left wrist debridement surgery on May 27," Warriors PR wrote.
"Podziemski, 22, scored a career-high 11.7 points to go with 5.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 26.8 minutes over 64 games (33 starts) for the Warriors in 2024-25. The second-year guard tallied averages of 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 32.1 minutes over 12 postseason games (11 starts)."

Podziemski posted a stellar second half of the season with the Warriors, averaging 15.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 43.8% from three. With an aging Warriors core around him, Golden State will again look toward him next season to take a jump and show he can be a main piece of this next era for the team.

Report: Celtics struggling to trade away 1 player
The Boston Celtics have already made two big trades this offseason, but they are apparently getting stiff-armed in their quest for a trifecta. Boston is struggling to find a trade partner for guard Anfernee Simons, Grant Afseth of FastbreakJournal.com reported on Wednesday. Afseth notes that the Celtics continue to be focused on shedding salary this offseason. Simons, the 26-year-old former Dunk Contest champion, was just acquired by Boston last month as part of the Jrue Holiday trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. The Celtics then managed to create some more financial flexibility by trading away Kristaps Porzingis shortly thereafter. With multiple 20-ppg seasons already under his belt, Simons has obvious value as a scorer. But he lacks efficiency and defensive chops and also has a bloated salary for next season at $27.7 million. Though the Celtics managed to get under the second apron of the luxury tax by trading away both Holiday and Porzingis, 2025-26 will effectively be a punt year for them due to star player Jayson Tatum, who will likely miss the entire season as he recovers from an Achilles rupture. With Tatum owed $54.1 million next season, Jaylen Brown owed $53.1 million, and Derrick White owed $28.1 million, it doesn’t make much sense for Boston to have their cap tied up beyond that if they are not going to be competing for a championship. On the bright side for the Celtics, Simons is on an expiring contract next year, which could be especially appealing to rival teams come the February trade deadline. But at least for now, it looks like Boston may have to prepare to open up the new season with Simons still on their roster.
The Telegraph detail significant issue as Chelsea look to complete deal for Alejandro Garnacho
Chelsea and Manchester United are some distance apart on their valuation for Alejandro Garnacho according to The Telegraph. The Blues have been busy this summer and have made four really exciting signings in Jorrel Hato, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap. However, the Blues aren’t finished there, and they are still looking to add Xavi Simons and Garnacho before the end of the window. Chelsea and Man United apart on Garnacho valuation Chelsea were first linked with Garnacho back in January, and those links have continued throughout the summer, and it now very much feels like a case of when rather than if the Argentine joins. The Blues are said to have agreed personal terms with Garnacho, and the deal is believed to be done on the player side. Chelsea are now in conversations with United over a fee, but The Telegraph have reported there’s some distance in valuation between the clubs. The report states Chelsea value Garnacho at around £30m, and are using a lower bid from Bayer Leverkusen in January as their benchmark. United reportedly want £50m for Garnacho, who’s made it clear he only wants to join Chelsea this summer, and it feels like this could go right up to the final days of the window. If Garnacho does join then he will likely compete with Gittens for the left wing spot, and the Argentina international scored 11 goals and registered ten assists in 58 games in all competitions last season. Still no breakthrough in Xavi Simons deal Whilst there’s a feeling Garnacho will happen, it feels like there’s now less confidence that a deal for Simons will happen. Chelsea are still locked in negotiations with RB Leipzig, but as of yet no official offer has been made, although Simons is keen on the move. Leipzig are said to want a total package of £60m, but Chelsea reportedly want to try and agree a fee of around £50m, and there’s a worry Manchester City could try and hijack the deal.

NASCAR makes decision on victory celebrations after Connor Zilisch fall
One of NASCAR's brightest young stars in Connor Zilisch could miss time after falling in Victory Lane following his victory in the Aug. 9 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen. Zilisch slipped on the door of his No. 88 Chevrolet before suffering a hard fall in Victory Lane and breaking his collarbone. He underwent successful surgery on Tuesday, with a timetable for his return yet to be announced. Even in light of the viral incident, NASCAR will not restrict drivers from celebrating in a certain way moving forward, per NASCAR's Mike Forde. Drivers have long climbed on the roof or door of their vehicles on the frontstretch and in Victory Lane to celebrate victories, but accidents stemming from that action are rare. After winning the Cup Series race at Watkins Glen on Aug. 10, Shane van Gisbergen — who will likely be Zilisch's Cup Series teammate at Trackhouse Racing in 2026 — carefully climbed out of his No. 88 Chevrolet — something he does regularly, not just in response to Zilisch's fall. Zilisch did not race in the Cup Series race at Watkins Glen due to his injury. The Xfinity Series will return on Aug. 22 at Daytona International Speedway, with Zilisch leading the regular-season standings by seven points.
