Warriors ownership could favor LaMelo Ball with No. 2 pick?
Could LaMelo Ball end up with the Warriors if the draft falls a certain way? Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Warriors ownership could favor LaMelo Ball with No. 2 pick if James Wiseman is taken first

The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly have their sights set on James Wiseman for the no. 1 pick in the NBA Draft and if those rumors turn out to be true, Golden State ownership may make a push for the team to take point guard LaMelo Ball.

"[T]here is a rumor circulating that Warriors ownership could pressure the front office to select Ball if Wiseman is gone," a source told Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman.

Ball is a divisive prospect. He is widely considered to be among the more talented players in the draft, but there are concerns about adding him to a roster, mostly due to off-the-court issues. Most recently, Ball reportedly did poorly in team interviews, causing some to speculate he could fall in the draft.

Of course, it is still believed by many that the Warriors would prefer Wiseman over Ball. The Warriors' strategy to land Wiseman is pretty simple: hope the Timberwolves take literally anybody else (especially since Ball and Anthony Edwards have both been linked to Minnesota, which holds the first pick) and then get their guy.

If they want Wiseman enough, they could try to trade up for him, but they could be satisfied to simply take the best player still available if they don't want to give up any assets. The Warriors recently worked out Wiseman along with Edwards and described both players as "beasts."
