The Golden State Warriors will face off against the Sacramento Kings on the road Friday night as they look to continue their recent hot streak.
Golden State kicked off the second half of their season with a win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday. They will now take on the Kings on the road in Sacramento on Friday as the second game of a back-to-back.
Of course, the Warriors have looked like a much better team since they made the move for Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline. Since trading for Butler, Golden State has won three of their four contests.
While the new star duo of Stephen Curry and Butler has worked well thus far, the Warriors will still be without one of their key players on Friday against Sacramento.
Ahead of the game, the Warriors announced that Jonathan Kuminga has been ruled out. Kuminga has not suited up for Golden State since Jan. 4 due to a sprained right ankle, and he will now miss his 23rd consecutive game.
While Kuminga does remain out, the Warriors did provide a crucial injury update for him on Wednesday. Golden State announced that Kuminga returned to practice on Wednesday and that his return to game action will be based on his progress and physical readiness.

This is a great sign for both Kuminga and Golden State. The 22-year-old forward has been sidelined for nearly two months with an ankle injury, but he is preparing to make his return soon after returning to practice on Wednesday.
Before his injury, Kuminga had been a crucial piece in Golden State’s rotation, even entering the starting lineup. This season, he is averaging 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.2 assist per game while shooting 45.9% from the field and 34.5% from three-point range.
The 22-year-old is putting together one of the best seasons of his career and the Warriors are desperately awaiting his return to the lineup, but he will not suit up for Friday night’s matchup with the Kings.
Fans can catch Friday’s game against the Warriors and Kings at 10:00 p.m. EST.
