Could Rockets guard James Harden end up with the Warriors? Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Warriors reportedly reached out to Rockets about James Harden

James Harden is one of the most dynamic scorers in NBA history. That rare talent who would make any team better, which is why Harden has been linked to so many teams after reports surfaced that he wanted the Houston Rockets to trade him.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, even the Golden State Warriors "made a call" to Houston asking about Harden, though no official offer was made and the talks seem to have mostly been Golden State performing their due diligence.

While Harden joining the team he could never quite get past during the Rockets' peak is exciting, it's hard to imagine how it would realistically work. The Rockets are unsurprisingly demanding a massive haul for Harden, which would likely to require any team to give up a plethora of picks and/or young talent to acquire the former MVP.

Perhaps the Warriors would be willing to build a deal around James Wiseman, but unless they were willing to throw in some unprotected picks for the foreseeable future, it probably wouldn't be enough.

The two teams Harden has been most consistently rumored to be interested in joining are the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. But a Brooklyn insider said a trade is unlikely to happen, and there is speculation that the Rockets would not be willing to send Harden to Daryl Morey, who left Houston to become Philly's president of basketball operations during the offseason.

Of course, there is also a chance the Rockets decide to keep Harden and hope they can get their disgruntled star to buy back in on the franchise.
