Warriors rookie James Wiseman out at least a week with sprained wrist

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Detroit Pistons 118-91 this past Saturday but lost a key contributor for a handful of games in the process.

Golden State confirmed on Monday that rookie forward James Wiseman suffered a sprained left wrist on Saturday and is expected to be out for at least a week. The 19-year-old selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days.

Wiseman is averaging 12.2 points 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in his rookie season. As ESPN noted, Golden State coach Steve Kerr recently moved Wiseman out of the starting lineup in an attempt to improve his team's defensive play.

Wiseman recorded 11 points and nine rebounds in 17 minutes against Detroit. The Warriors have won three of their past four games and are 11-9 overall heading into Tuesday's matchup against the Boston Celtics.

Wiseman is on track to miss the Boston game and also two contests against the Dallas Mavericks. It's unknown if he'll be available to play against the San Antonio Spurs next Monday.
