If there's one other thing that Klay Thompson is known for aside from his shooting and NBA career, it's his relationship with his English bulldog named Rocco. The two were practically inseparable, with Thompson's pet dog having a big presence in his life.
In fact, in 2014 when he was signing his $70 million contract with the Golden State Warriors, Thompson was apparently focused on getting home so he could spend time with his dog, according to SF Gate.
Naturally, when news of Rocco's passing emerged, fans were saddened. Many also quickly sent messages of support to Thompson, knowing full well how heartbreaking it is to lose such an important figure in his life.
On Friday, Thompson mourned the passing of Rocco and posted a beautiful message celebrating the life of his dog after the 13 years they spent together.
"I’m gonna miss Rocco a lot, 13 glorious years with my boy," the now Dallas Mavericks star wrote. "I know he’s in doggy heaven poppin somebody’s ball. A great dynasty dog he was. Thank you for all the sweet messages ! All dogs go to Heaven!"
Meanwhile, the Warriors — who witnessed firsthand how the bond between Thompson and Rocco grew over the years — also celebrated Rocco and made sure that the beloved dog will be remembered forever.
"Forever part of the Warriors family," the Dubs wrote, along with a photo of Thompson and Rocco during their time with the team.
"Rest in peace, Rocco."
Klay Thompson's dad, Mychal Thompson, revealed Rocco's passing during his appearance on the radio show “Mason & Ireland" on Wednesday. According to the former NBA player, they "had to put Rocco, Klay’s dog, down over the weekend."
"It was time," Thompson's father added. "We were all sad, but Rocco had a great, long life."
