The Golden State Warriors made a roster move Sunday, adding size to a frontcourt that has been stretched thin late in the season.
The Warriors are navigating multiple injuries in the frontcourt during the home stretch of the season and heading into the play-in.
A calf strain has limited veteran big man Al Horford, while Quinten Post is dealing with foot and ankle problems. Both will be out for at least one more week, per the Warriors PR account, leaving the Dubs searching for reliable depth up front.
It's reasonable for the Warriors to also plan for the long-term future, with Golden State potentially facing a significant offseason departure in that of future unrestricted free agent Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis spoke about this future after the loss to Cleveland, leaving the door for a Golden State exit open.
“It’s hard to say (if I'll remain in Golden State),” Porzingis said. “Of course, it would be nice for me to go ahead and say, ‘Yes, I want to continue here,’ and this and that. But the reality is I didn’t have a good year at all. I barely showed what I’m capable of. And so I have to see what’s out there.”
According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, Golden State plans to sign veteran center Charles Bassey to a deal, addressing both the short- and long-term future at the center position if he sticks around.
Bassey, 25, has appeared in 121 NBA games across stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, and Boston Celtics. Over his career, he has averaged 4.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in limited minutes while shooting 63% from the field.

Bassey is also a familiar face, coming in with knowledge of the Warriors' system, as he previously played in the G League with the Warriors’ Santa Cruz affiliate.
His most recent stint came with the Celtics on consecutive 10-day contracts that expired April 4, making him available for a standard deal. He appeared in five games with Boston, averaging 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds on a meager 3.4 minutes per game.
