The Warriors are locking up forward Gui Santos for the long term.

The team announced Saturday that Santos has signed a multiyear contract extension. According to ESPN, the deal is for three years and $15 million and includes a player option for the 2028-29 season.

Santos, 23, has taken on a significantly larger role in recent weeks with Jimmy Butler sidelined by a torn ACL. Over his past 12 appearances, Santos is averaging 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.9 blocks in 28.8 minutes per game.

He has started 10 of those contests, including each of the last nine, and is shooting 58.8 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from three-point range during that stretch.

For the season, Santos has appeared in 48 games, averaging 6.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 16.0 minutes while shooting 53.1 percent overall and 39.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Santos was selected 55th overall in the 2022 draft and would have been a restricted free agent this summer. Instead, Golden State secured him before the offseason, keeping a young contributor in place as his role continues to grow.
