Both Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry and Dillon Brooks of the Phoenix Suns were not part of the recently concluded 2026 NBA All-Star Game. It was for very different reasons, though.
Curry was voted as a starter for the Western Conference behind averages of 27.2 points on 46.8% shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals and an NBA-best 4.5 triples per game. It was the 11th time in his career that Curry was named an All-Star.
The former back-to-back MVP, however, was forced to sit out the festivities due to a lingering knee injury. Curry missed Golden State’s last five games heading into the All-Star break.
Brooks, on the other hand, was one of the biggest snubs for this year’s All-Star squad. The 6-foot-7 forward was overlooked despite having a big year in his first season with the Suns. In 49 games played for Phoenix this season, Brooks is averaging a career-high 21.2 points on 44.1% from the field.
As for Curry, the 37-year-old has recently been busy promoting his new animated film entitled “GOAT.” The Warriors superstar produced the movie and also made his debut as a voice actor for one of the characters in the sports film.
In a recent interview, Curry was asked about Brooks’ NBA persona supposedly inspiring the main antagonist in the movie, Mane Attraction. Brooks has built a reputation for being a real-life antagonist in the league, and there is some belief that the Suns star may have influenced the character in Curry’s new film.
Curry laughed off the question but also added a cryptic message.
"See? People are taking from the movie what they’re supposed to take," Curry said. "I love it."

“GOAT,” which is about a teenage goat pursuing his “roarball” dream, is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
Curry sat out the Warriors’ 101-97 win against Brooks and the Suns on Feb. 5. These two teams are no longer set to face off in the regular season this year. However, Curry and Brooks could potentially cross paths in the upcoming NBA playoffs.
