The Golden State Warriors are taking a careful approach to Steph Curry ’s return from a right knee injury. Coach Steve Kerr provided an update on the star guard as the team prepares to face the Los Angeles Lakers.

Curry missed 27 games before returning on Sunday against the Houston Rockets. In his first game back, he scored 29 points in 26 minutes off the bench, hitting five three-pointers. The Warriors lost 117‑116, but Curry’s performance showed that he has not missed a beat.

On Tuesday, the two-time MVP played his second consecutive game off the bench against the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors won 110‑105, snapping a four-game losing streak. Curry scored 17 points in 25 minutes, shooting 5-of-12 from the field and 4-of-11 from three. He also made two four-point plays in the second quarter.

Despite the win, Kerr said he isn’t sure yet if Curry will play Thursday against the Lakers, per Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Kerr has stressed that the team is prioritizing caution as it carefully adjusts Curry’s workload. The 38-year-old has been sidelined since Jan. 30 and is now slowly returning to his peak form. Golden State went 10‑19 in games without Curry, leading to a 37‑42 season record.

The Warriors have locked in the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference play-in tournament. The team clearly struggled without the point guard icon and hopes those setbacks are behind them as the postseason approaches.

The Warriors will host the Lakers on Thursday in their final home game of the season. On Friday, the team will travel to Sacramento to face the Kings again. They will conclude the week in Inglewood against the Clippers on Sunday.

At this point, there is no guarantee that Curry will play in all of those games.
