Warriors’ Steve Kerr on Moses Moody: MRI was clean, that’s the good news

Warriors guard Moses Moody suffered a serious injury. There’s no way around that.

But it could’ve been worse. A lot worse.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that while Moody suffered a torn patellar tendon, the rest of the knee checked out clean. No ACL damage. No MCL issues. No cartilage or bone concerns.

“The MRI was clean in terms of all that other stuff,” Kerr said, via 95.7 The Game’s Willard & Dibs show. “It’s the tendon… so that’s good news. And that allows it for a pretty basic surgery.”

“Basic” is relative here. Moody is still done for the season, and then some.

The 22-year-old wing is expected to miss the remainder of 2025-26, with no firm timetable beyond that. But Kerr did offer a rough target. The hope is Moody could return sometime around the middle of next season.

That would put him on a similar track as Jimmy Butler, who is also working back from a torn ACL.

“Hopefully those guys will be back next season, mid-season or so,” Kerr said.

So yes, it’s a long road ahead.

But for Moody and the Warriors, avoiding additional damage may end up being the difference between a setback and something far more complicated.
