The idea of pairing LeBron James with Stephen Curry has been quietly lurking in the NBA dating back to last season. With the drama picking up in Los Angeles, that dream trade has made its way back into the spotlight.

Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne delivered a piece on Friday morning, offering some insight as to what is happening with James and the Los Angeles Lakers right now. It had several major bombshells dropped.

The most notable for Golden State Warriors fans will be the team surfacing among the potential James trade saga. When James picked up his player option for 2025-26, and Rich Paul made his statement as a part of that decision, the ears of the Warriors organization reportedly perked up.

Windhorst and Shelburne wrote, "A handful of teams -- including the Golden State Warriors, who tried to trade for James in 2023-24 -- considered again whether to make an offer, sources said."

It is more than notable that no other teams were directly named apart from the Warriors here. That would lead one to believe that of the teams who inquired, Golden State may have been the only ones truly caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

The Warriors made their big play to add help around Stephen Curry last season when they acquired Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. That was a step in the right direction, but the team was clearly lacking more support, evidenced by the Warriors' lackluster offense following Curry's injury in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

James shared the court with the Warriors legend for Team USA at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The duo went together like peanut butter and jelly. The question from here is whether Golden State will get to enjoy that delicious treat before either one of the future Hall of Famers calls it a career.
