Draymond Green has spent his entire career with the Golden State Warriors. He has helped the franchise win four championships while making four All-Star teams and nine All-Defensive Teams and winning one Defensive Player of the Year Award.
The Warriors were projected to compete for the championship this season after acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat in February. Golden State beat the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs and took a 1-0 lead against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round.
However, Steph Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1 and missed the rest of the series. Without Curry, the Warriors lost four games in a row.
Golden State won the 2022 championship against the Boston Celtics. However, the franchise hasn't gotten back to the conference finals since then.
Some believe the Warriors need to make another blockbuster trade to win a fifth ring in the Curry era.
With that said, Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report believes the Warriors should attempt to acquire Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis, even if it means Green has to be traded.
"Sabonis would be the perfect third star for the Golden State Warriors, even if it meant trading Green in order to get him," Swartz wrote. "The 29-year-old has led the NBA in rebounding for three years in a row, is the league's second-best passing big man after Nikola Jokic and shot 41.7 percent from three this season. Curry, Butler and Sabonis would give head coach Steve Kerr a ton of offensive options."
Sabonis appeared in 70 games for the Kings this season. He averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds and 6.0 assists while shooting 59.0% from the field, 41.7% from 3 and 75.4% from the free-throw line.
A three-time All-Star, Sabonis will make $43.6 million next season. He signed a four-year, $186 million extension with Sacramento in 2023. It was a renegotiation-and-extend deal.
Sabonis has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers and Kings. He has career averages of 16.1 points, 10.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
